City cycle courier News

January 2010.
Happy new year to all our customers, we had a bit of a slow start to the New Year due to some very unexpected bad weather down here in the South West.

I spent 2 days walking with my post in order to not let our customers down. I did not realise how much my legs could hurt, Oh and dont forget the blisters, I take my hat off to the Royal Mail Posties that do this every day. Although they do not have to cover 3 post codes on their own, I must have walked over 40 miles in the 2 days.

Royal Mail have been in the news again, they are looking at increasing their postal prices from April, this will mean that First Class post will now cost 41p per small standard letter. we will also be putting a slight increase on our post but will offering any new customer between now and April a fixed price that is guaranteed to save you money for the long term, If interested give us a call.

What an amazing few weeks we have had at City cycle couriers. First of all I would like to thank all those people from across the country and around the world who have emailed me to wish us luck with our business. The latest round of Royal Mail Postal Strikes has had an amazing impact on raising our profile both locally and as far a field as America.

Last week started with the BBC comming to visit us to spend the morning to see us at work, unfortunately it was so wet we did not get chance to put the reporter William Swail on a bike, the end product was a great piece on the BBC News web page titled Royal Mails one-man competitor
and TV coverage one Local and National BBC News

following I spent most of Thursday smiling for camera's from various news agencies and carrying out interviews to reporters. the outcome of this was a full page in the Daily Mail and the Times Newspaper and web site we were also in the London and Bristol Metro Newspapers. Friday morning I did a live interview for BBC Essex and this was followed by going onto national radio BBC4,  with live interviews on BBC5 Live and Radio 1 on Saturday.

We have had a good month in April and our postal service has definitely started to fill our day, so many thanks to all our new customers, please feel free to give us feedback on our service.
April's Issue of the Chamberlink Magazine ran a article on the Day in the life of us, and we have had many people respond to the article some with work and others just taking an interest in our service.
At the end of May we start our contract with the Plymouth Chambers, distributing the Chamberlink Magazine, so it will be all hands to the pumps whilst we get used to the increased workload.
I am in the process of putting a new page on our web site titled Meet the Team, this will give you some information on our backgrounds, I feel it is important that our customers know a little about us.

20/2/09
We have had a busy few weeks since our last news, I have been speaking to businesses across the city to explain to them our proposed postal service. If all goes well our POSTCOMM postal licence should be issued early March.

The local press have been in touch so hopefully an article in the Plymouth Herold should be just around the corner, to cover this story. We will be the only Cycle courier service in the country to have this licence but I am sure we wont be the last once others see its an area of work that could work for them.

I would like to thank Foot Anstey, Orgill and Thompsons Solicitors who have been keeping me busy the last few weeks, may it continue

Last week I visited the Plymouth University to give a presentation to the 1st year business students about the start up and development of City cycle couriers. I think we all had a good time and I would like to thank all the students for all the good ideas that they had about how I can continue to grow my business.

Happy New Year to everybody, we have been busy over the last few weeks, and we certainly made the most of things on the run up to Christmas where we were used for the first time to do a Bank run for a local company. we had a few new customers for December and they included: Fresh air studios and Citybus Plymouth.

Leaflet Distribution: This appears to be a good time of year for such jobs already this month we have leaflet distribution jobs being done and waiting to be done from: Citybus Plymouth, Tony Perry Windows, Chips Away, and Swimcats, by the time these have been done we would have distributed 6000 leaflets to both businesses and domestices premises

In addition we have just applied to Postcom for a postal licence and we are keeping our fingers crossed that we meet the criteria required to hold such a licence. Having this will mean that we are licensed by the Postal Services Regulator who are are independent regulator for postal services. This means that we will have to adhere to the Mail Integrity code and the Common Operational Procedures Code, although we are already doing this in our own way, one of the main differences to our service will mean that we have a supported complaints procedure through POSTRS, we will be registered to the Data Protection Act and we will also have to label up all standard post that we deliver with our unique Identification number, this means that all mis-directed mail will be returned to us for redelivery or return to our customers. meaning we can offer a much better service. (please watch this space for further details on our progress)
